I had three teachers before starting classes with Kathleen. The previous ones were all very good but it really clicked with Kathleen and I saw that I was making progress like never before! She understood the way I learn language and would always explain things in a way to facilitate my understanding. She is also very encouraging, which helps with the unavoidable frustration of learning something entirely new as a grownup. The way she explains grammar rules, making sure I understood the essential before adding other elements, is unique and gives you the confidence to use them.

I met Kathleen when I signed up for the Absolute Beginners course. I immediately liked the way the classes were conducted and the excellent atmosphere. A small group is a good place to start getting to know the language. Kathleen does a great job explaining grammar and prepares her own materials that are much better explained than the textbook. Having completed courses for A1 and A2, I joined group B1. I look forward to continuing to work with Kathleen both as a group and individually in the future.

Kathleen is truly an outstanding teacher. As someone who’s generally good with languages and had previously attempted to learn Dutch on my own, I can confidently say that her lessons were a game-changer for me. I was never bored (even during the course for complete beginners) and at the same time I finally began to grasp the nuances that had eluded me before. She keeps students engaged and eager to learn, provides a lot of additional materials for the standard Dutch course: an extended vocabulary for each chapter in the course book, and she fosters a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable and encouraged to participate. My proficiency in Dutch has grown immensely, and I credit this to Kathleen’s expertise and dedication to her students’ success. If you’re looking for an excellent Dutch teacher, look no further!

I am glad that I decided to get enrolled in this course “Dutch for Absolute Beginners”. A welcoming, safe, and warm atmosphere in classes helps a lot with learning a new language. Kathleen explains every necessary detail without overwhelming students with too much information. Her explanations make the material accessible and easy to understand. There is a good set of study materials, homework after every lesson, and well-established communication with students (e.g. feedback on homework). I recommend that everyone take lessons with this excellent teacher. I will definitely continue with A2-B1 courses.

I find lessons with Kathleen one of the highlights of my week. She is very friendly and helpful and cares about the development of her students at their own pace. I still find speaking Dutch intimidating, because I keep making mistakes and don’t remember vocabulary, but her encouragement and support w helps me improve my conversational skills. Thanks to that I try to speak more Dutch on every day basis instead of choosing English as a safe option. I definitely see big improvement since I started taking lessons with Kathleen and I am looking forward to continuing!

My wife and I have been having individual Dutch conversation classes with Kathleen over the past year, and we both feel that we have benefited considerably. We wanted to improve our every day use of the language, and she has been very accommodating of our wishes. She creates a relaxed atmosphere and is very easy to converse with on all subjects, with a good balance between conversation flow, correcting our mistakes/pronunciation and giving us new vocabulary. We would definitely recommend her to anyone wanting to improve their Dutch.

Kathleen’s classes are excellent. They seem perfectly calibrated to focus on the important and practical things in a step-by-step manner. The classes are fast-paced but manageable. You can tell that she knows a lot about teaching methods and how to bring out the best in students. She structures activities to make us put the language to use in different ways while respecting the ability and needs of individuals. I enjoy how she injects a bit of humor and shares tidbits about Dutch culture. I am currently in my second term with her, and I would highly recommend this class to others!

Mrs. Kathleen Henneman is an amazing teacher who is not only knowledgeable in Dutch language but on the learning processes and difficulties it might present to the ones who are willing to learn. She is patient and cares about the individual goals a student has and makes it fun. When presented with a question she does explain why Dutch language works the way it does and avoids replying with: ‘that’s the way that it is”.

Kathleen is a very professional and friendly teacher. The courses are well structured and the learning is step by step. Kathleen makes a special effort on conversation, which makes the class very interactive. Kathleen is always responsive and perfectly on time when the courses are online. I highly recommend her!

Nederlands leren met Kathleen is voor mij bijzonder. Ze is tegelijkertijd professionnel, relaxed, innemend en brengt plezier in taal leren.
